Cougar Chronicle - September 19, 2025

We have been busy this week with some of our focus preparing for the new school. We went on another tour of Forest Grove with Superintendent Stoddard and her team. We can truly see the new building coming to life and it is exciting.
A highlight was the incredible amphitheater on the second floor. Banked by large windows, the theatre space has seating for an audience looking down into our future drama room. We can already imagine how our Grade 7 to 9 students will love sitting there for performances as well as an everyday space to hang out at break or during the lunch hour.
We cannot wait to share more details with you as the year progresses and we begin to imagine how our school will evolve into a new identity.
Bon weekend!

Pay school fees online!
Wondering when and how to pay for school fees? School fee information for the 2025-26 school year are posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal . All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. NOTE: Additional fees may be added throughout the year—for example, at the beginning of each semester, as your child takes part in various activities, or they may be adjusted by changes in selected optional courses in junior and senior high school. If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2025.
For more information, visit the fees section on the school website. Alternatively, contact Candace Lyles, Senior Administrative Assistant at Sherwood Heights main office at 780-467-5930.
OPPORTUNITY
Cougar Mile Tradition
It is that time of year where we enjoy a long standing Sherwood Heights tradition known as the Cougar Mile.
In honour of Terry Fox and his Legacy of Hope, our students run the Cougar Mile. We start off the event with a short assembly to remember why Terry Fox ran across Canada and the importance of doing what we can as a community to support Cancer research.
Following the assembly, student head outside to take turns running the Cougar Mile starting with our Grade 7 students and ending with Grade 9 students.
That's not all!
Our students will also be treated to a FREE delicious BBQ lunch cooked by our very own talented teachers. Each student will receive a pop, a bag of chips and a hotdog or burger. Yum!
Toonies for Terry
Along with our Cougar Mile, we will be collecting donations for the Terry Fox Foundation. Drop by the school to drop your change in a donation box in the office. Students can also bring donations during the Cougar Mile event. Let's show how Sherwood Heights contributes to the well-being of our community through this simple act of altruism!
