SWH Track and Field Meet

We are excited to share that our school Track and Field Meet will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Strathcona Athletic Park (SAP). Students will travel by bus from Sherwood Heights to SAP in the morning and return for regular dismissal at the end of the day. There will be no classes or activities at Sherwood Heights on this day.

Attendance & Participation

Participation in the Track and Field Meet is part of the Physical Education curriculum. Students are expected to attend and participate. If your child cannot attend due to illness, injury, or other reasons, please inform their Physical Education teacher or contact the school at 780-467-5930.

A Permission Click for the Track Meet was sent on Thursday, May 8 via email. Students are expected to remain at SAP for the entire day. If a student needs to leave early, a guardian must sign them out at the Meet Results Room, located next to the bleachers at SAP.

Schedule & Transportation

• 8:40 a.m.: Students meet their homeroom teacher in the gym for attendance.
• End of Day: Attendance will be taken on the soccer field in the middle of the track before students’ board buses back to Sherwood Heights for dismissal.

Event Information

Students must sign up for a minimum of three events, including at least one running event, through their Physical Education classes. They will complete a self-evaluation to assess their participation.

• Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1200m, 4x100 relay (by homeroom).
• Field Events: Long jump, triple jump, high jump, shotput, discus, javelin.

What to Bring & Guidelines

• Devices: Students may bring AirPods and cell phones at their own risk. However, they cannot compete while using them.
• No Tents/Tarps: These are not allowed at the track.
• Dress Appropriately: Be prepared for any weather. We recommend bringing extra clothing, sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle.
• Lunch: Students can bring their own lunch or purchase from the concession, but please ensure they have enough food and water for the day.

Weather Plan

If the meet is canceled due to the weather, we will have a regular school day. A School Messenger notification will be sent out by 6:00 a.m., and radio stations will share the announcement.

District Track & Field Meet – May 27, 2025

Students who demonstrate a high level of skill at our Track and Field Meet may qualify for the school track team. This team will compete in the EIAA District Track Meet at SAP on Tuesday, May 27. Those who qualify will receive an additional Permission Click.
