My name is Chantal Harry, and I am the new school counsellor here at Sherwood Heights. I am so excited to be here!
My job here at the school is to help students become more able learners by supporting them in a variety of ways. Some of the ways that I help support students and their families here at Sherwood Heights is by:
- helping students choose their options classes or their courses in high school;
- supporting program planning for a variety of students with a variety of needs; and
- connecting students with peer tutors.
I also help with personal counselling needs, specifically confidential discussions of personal concerns or problems which may interfere with school performance and personal well-being. I help students work through issues such as:
- grief and loss;
- substance abuse;
- personal health and safety;
- family and peer relationships;
- conflict management, and
- study skills.
I am also a liaison to many community agencies and can refer families to specific workshops or outside counselling. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about what I do here at Sherwood Heights! You can reach me at 780-467-5930 Ext. 6522 or send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please also visit the Guidance Section of the website to see the resources we have collected for students and parents, and you can follow me on Twitter at @mme_harry.
